Interview with a Dreamer.
by Cymraes' Corner
Dreamer: Thank you for this – my dreams have been rather, er, interesting of late, but one in particular has troubled me.
Interviewer: Ok – which dream would that be?
Dreamer: The one I had a few nights ago; try as I might I really can’t understand it.
Interviewer: What were the specific things that stood out of the dream? Often we get bogged down in the details and forget the themes which are the important building blocks of the scenario. These are the things our subconscious wants us to look at.
Dreamer: Well now you mention it, that makes sense; I was walking across a bridge to the other side of the river. That seemed ordinary enough, but it’s not is it?
Interviewer: You crossed a bridge? Over water?
Dreamer: Yes, and I know that is hugely significant in it’s self! But it’s what happened afterwards that has me puzzled! I walked along the river and the shore was sandy… now I know this river is mud-flats at this point so… and there were people sunbathing; it was more like a beach than a river side!
Interviewer: Did anyone speak to you?
Dreamer: No – should they have?
Interviewer: It’s usual to wait until your spoken to; in which case it could have been significant, but as no-one did, then it’s not important. What happened then?
Dreamer: After I wondered about the sandy shore I turned to look at the bridge; it had three huge brick built supports; feet – tho’ they didn’t look like feet (smile) – they took my attention and I watched how the river flowed between them.
Interviewer: This is the same bridge you crossed; three huge supports?
Dreamer: Yes; the river flowed very quickly in three (also – this is important, this number isn’t it?) segments. I was walking along towards the support on my side of the river when something sped very quickly down the river; I had to jump over to see if it was a boat but missed it and it happened again and I caught sight of it this time; it was a boat – a blue speed boat.
Interviewer: So you missed the boat the first time?
Dreamer: (laughs) Yes I did! This is starting to make sense now…!
Interviewer: It does?
Dreamer: Yes – I am beginning to see a theme and what it’s about. (Falls silent to think) It’s about my love affair… I think… Anyway – I went into this support which was hollow and had a huge ladder up the inside. There was a oldish fat chap trying to climb a shorter ladder that went no where… (laughs) I wondered why he was trying so hard to do something that I can clearly see NOW was so unproductive!
Interviewer: It’s beginning to make sense now…?
Dreamer: Yes… it is. I climbed up the ladder and came out back on top of the bridge… I thought to myself, “Oh! I’m here again” and walked home.
Interviewer: Was that the end of the dream?
Dreamer: No, but I think I need to look at this part first for a while; digest it y’know?
Interviewer: Yes – I know; lets see – you crossed a bridge across a river, walked along a sandy shore by the same river? (Dreamer nods) Looked back at the bridge and the fast flowing river; saw something and missed it, then caught sight of it the second time around; climbed up the inside of the bridge support after wondering about the futile attempts of a man’s attempts to climb a ladder that went no where! And found yourself back on the bridge and then went home.
Dreamer: Yes that about sums it up. (thinks for a while) I can see now how the river; water relates to emotions… but I’m a little confused about the towering supports and the ladders?
Interviewer: Perhaps this is something you need to look at in a different light? Rather than concentrating on the dream ask yourself what do we do when we ascend higher? What are you trying to reach – attain? As you reached the top with out a problem; what have you achieved? Ladders often relate to our spirituality btw…
Dreamer: My spirituality has taken on a renewal of late – I’d been very remiss of late – well the last couple of years really – but recently, I’ve returned to it with a new depth. It has been an emotional journey too – what with all thats gone on to challenge me – I think I have come out the other side now; though I know challenges will always be there in the future, I feel as thought I have climbed up that ladder! It was a long hard climb too but I did it (smiles) and I didn’t fall either!
Interviewer: You look more relaxed now than when you first began to talk about this dream; is that how you feel?
Dreamer: Yes – it’s been bugging me, but now it’s starting to make sense. Can we leave it here for now?
Interviewer: Of course. Till next time then.
