Quotes

Quotes can inspire and inspiration can be infectious! If you are so inspired to leave a quote then please do so, adding the author if known.

I had a very large collection of quotes once, but my hard-drive decided to die and the collection with it! Having learned my lesson, I intend to start my collection a-new here  in my online journal, where, I hope, they will be safe.

I will start with this quote by the person I see as one of the Mother’s of Paganisim, Doreen Valiente (1922-1999):~

“I am the child of earth and Starry Heaven and there is no part of me that is not of the Gods”.

It is from this below passage, which in turn is from her last public appearance at the Pagan Federation National Conference,  held at the Fairfield Hall in Croydon, London, 22nd November 1997.

“The initiates of the ancient pagan Mysteries were taught to say ‘I am the child of earth and Starry Heaven and there is no part of me that is not of the Gods”. If we in our own day believe this, then we will not only see it as true of ourselves, but of other people also. We will for instance cease to have silly bickering between covens, because they happen to do things differently from the way we do them.”

An excellent biography of her by George Knowles, which inspired this first entry can be found here.

“Minds are like parachutes; they only function when they are open…”
